Creativity Game

Well, I'll just COPY and PASTE my own notepad into this post here. Lazy to edit anyway..

Creativity Game for HTI

Getting started:

While the group is having trouble on what to do for this assignment, someone came up with this idea... Someone.
That is where all of us (group members) think of a game that motivates thinking (thinking motivates random ideas), and from all the games "thought" by the team members, choose the best game.

After settling on the game itself (after some arguments), the group decided to improve on the ideas, structures on the game itself.

Game's introduction:

Let's just start off by getting the name down. It's called "Towards a pun!" or maybe "Two words, a pun!". Eww, sounds like "two girls, one cup"...
It short... "Use two random words to form something funny." will describe it quite well.

Anyway, the game is about getting a bunch of people to play the game. Then after settling who is going to play, we have to assign someone to be the "idea maker".
Don't worry, everyone gets their turn.

Idea maker: Someone who needs to think of 2 RANDOM words that came up on his/her mind. For example, "Animal" and "Laptop" might be a good one...
Other players: These people will have to use these 2 words, and form either a pun, another word, or anything that relates both of them together.

Good answers: "Trojan horse", or any "good" ones that most of the other players who agrees.
Bad answers: Any answers which does not relates them together...

Or

Power Socket + Straw = Stop sucking my power! (I know there are 3 words in total... We treat 1 "thing" as a word, like "Rubber band", "Personal Computer", etc.)
Campfire + Aeroplane = Lost! (for those who watched the series... at least.)

After the answer has been chosen, the player will get 1 point. Yeah, you guessed it, at the end of the game, the player with the highest score wins! *Laugh out loud...*

In-depth rules:

The players will have to sit in a circle... Easier management. Turns starts off with 1 random person on vote, dice rolling, or any ways you can think of. Then the next player will be the person on his/her left.
The player who provides the 2 words will not be given points EVEN if he/she provides a good answer. (To be fair for those who are not prepared for their turns...)
There will be no such thing like "Hey, that's my answer!". First come, first serve.
After 5 minutes of thinking (at the most), if nobody can provide a good answer, it will automatically be the next player's turn.
After all the players have given their "2 words", they can decide to start another round, or to just end the session for score calculations.

Pros and Cons:

Positives:
Funny (We decided to remove the funny part from the basic rules since it is relatively hard to find something funny, related to 2 random things, and "pun"-ish, or "punish". Get it? No? :(
Anticipation

Negatives:
Gets dry after a while
Stuck at certain combinations (We can get stuck for quite long... and not changing the question.)

Some "in-depth" story behind the scenes + Other playtesting:

Before even getting started on the game, the group somehow argues about what game to make and stuff... It's like the group always argue no matter what, it might not be a bad thing though!
One of them says that a game that requires players to think of a word which first sound rhymes with the last sound made by the previous word... Sounds confusing?
Example: Last sound of "Laptop", will be "op". Words like "Cop", "Pop", etc...
So a good one will be "Laptop... Copper... Parade" (Remember, sound... Not the spelling.)
After much playtest, the group decided that this game even though motivates some thinking, but they are just generate ideas from the sound. So, yeah. This game is OUT.

Then another person came up with this game... "Pictionary". From the looks of it, almost anyone know that is just a "Dictionary" with a "P".
Anyway, the rules of this game is pretty simple, create a random word, then the selected player has to draw out the meaning of the word, the others will guess. Sound fun right?
However, this is actually off topic, we are supposed to make a game that generates thinking, not referring to the same thing... So this game is OUT, of course.

After a few playtests on random games which everyone in the group had thought of, we decides to ask a friendly person (not from the group), to test out the "finalised" game.
Let's welcome the King of Puns, W.....! Okay, I'm pretty sure that the person will be mad if I just state his name there for no reason (yeah... it's a guy), so we will just call this person "The King of Puns!"

Before getting to that, Gorgonzola also have their own 2nd rough idea for the same game: Use 3 random words to form something funny.
Example: Ring, Pencil, Laptop = Photoshop! (We thought that it is even harder, so we decided to boot it out.)

Back to topic: About the King of Puns.
He did an AMAZING job by making puns out of 2 random words made by someone who is playing his *music-related* game. Out of 5 times, he got 4 of them answered in the shortest amount of time.
Anyway... 1 person is not enough, so we decided to *sabotage* the person who is beside him, "A...", let's just call him "person A", or "A" for short.

Halfway through the game playtesting, due to the toughness of the "2 words", the group leader thought that it might be a boring game for the rest of us, so he asked us this question,
"Hey, so how you guys think of this game? Does the game bores you or is it just that you all haven't found any answer?"

Well, the rest of us said the same thing. "Well, it is not boring. But we are trying to get an answer or until someone does."
He was like, "Phew... If they said that this is boring, we'll have to redo the game again..."
After this, we truly decided to keep this game as our creativity game.

Some of you who read this might think that "No big deal... Making a pun out of 2 words is easy".
Try this: "Building" + "Rain"... All of us had an answer that we thought is close enough, but most of us rejected all of the answers though. That is the reason why we made the 5minute timer.

Best 10?

Sorry, but I don't really know which 10 posts are my best... All of them are precious to me! Erm, just choose the best 10 for me, if you wanted. xD

Alchemy

One of the strangest topic, not because of the topic, but the lecturer who taught it. Different lecturer teaches a different method, people will learn differently.

Before moving forward, we must look back in the past and learn from them. It's like you have slipped over by a banana skin, then you will realise that bananas are hazards. Okay, not that much.. As in, once bitten, twice shy. Been there, done that. You will automatically know what to deal with things that you have handled before. Even without past experiences, we can refer to the wise elders to give us some light.

Faris also talked about the human body and the spiritual soul.

Sight/Thoughts

Our eyes have the ability to open and close at our free will. It affects thinking.

If we stare at an object for a long time, we will have images of that same object in our minds. Optical illusions always use this to "trick" our eyes. Likewise, you will dream about it if you stare at the object or simply thinking about it for a long time.

An example will be a desert. when you are in the hot, dry, sandy area, you might imagine some random giant cactus and crave for free water and shade, but when you reach the cactus, aw, it has no shadow! Well, hallucination. Is it that we have always been controlled by our minds all this while? We might not know.

Smell and Breath

Unlike Sight, Smell and Breath cannot be controlled, even though they are still essential to humans. The air that we breathe in comes together with the smell in the environment. This is reason is why I hate more than ever for people who are near me that SMOKES, FART, OR EVEN NEVER BATHE, but sadly, the path outside SP is full of people like that, which is why I took the longer way.

Similar to Sight, smell can affect our mood and thoughts as well. Just imagine, if you saw a beautiful girl, but she got body odour, how would you feel? :O

Faris posed a question to us. Images impact our life greatly. So what images can be seen if we dismember you after you die? I hope to see Ayumi Hamasaki with every part of my body... what? It is just what I wanted, right? :p

Topic on Souls

Faris posed another question for us. How many of us have souls in our body? Gingers don't have souls! Sorry, got affected by a YouTube video. xD

I don't really believe there is a soul, except for Soul Calibur.. Sorry getting off topic. Anyway, I don't think souls and spirits really exist, except for the "Psychological" part. We imagined them, but we don't really have them.

Faris questioned a guy next who believed that he doesn't have a soul, he asked him, "What's controlling you to move now?" He seemed to believe in what he said half-heartedly after a long thought. Well, his imaginary "soul" is making him to think that way. Controlling our body? In science it will be the brain. The brain gives all the messages that we need to do whenever our body is getting something new, like touching a hot object will cause the brain to send a signal and "hint" the hand to move away. Seriously, then why gravity occurs? Do Earth have souls too?

Faris mentioned that there is no doctor for the soul, giving for example, curing a heartache. Heartache, I am not sure what kind of Heartache he is talking about. Heart cramp? Heartbroken? Heart attack? Anyway, some things, not even with the best doctor/psychologist could cure something. Some people have illness in their thoughts, they are thinking that they are ill, hence they have the tendency to lay on bed at all times, feeling too weak to move. A good psychologist can cure it, even a doctor who just tell some "white" lies could cure them too. Some diseases cannot be cured, no matter how good you are, praying to God also don't really work here.

Faris constantly mentioned about heart and linking it to the soul. He mentioned about living a good life being a good impact to our souls. Live healthy, eat healthy? Even with people like these, sometimes they are too "clean", and when they contacted with a common disease like flu, they might actually die because they don't have the resistance built from young.

So Faris mentioned about soul, heart and balance (seriously, he mentioned about ALOT of things.. about the Heart. He has heart problems??) Anyway, we only have a heart on the middle, nearer to the left, does that make our body being imbalanced? Our intestines are also not being symmetrical too. Hence we, the humans, are not normal beings. xD

Aliens and Alien Invasion

Yay, another Mars Attack reference. Usually when it comes to aliens, we, the humans, will think of "We come in peace" or something along the line. In games, the ONLY way to kill an alien is by using a gun, until I saw the movie of Mars Attack. Near the ending, a grandma was listening to an oldie with her headphones until an alien burst in, the alien accidentally snaps the wire and the music came out, then the music somehow distorts its brain and the brain just.. became popcorn. Then the grandson (apprently 18 years old) saw the incident, went to the radio station with the CD, and plays it throughout the world and saves the day. Kinda funny if you think about it. The song is also quite funny if you just hear the "Er-errrrrrrr-er-errrrrr" in the regular high pitch tone (unedited).

That show also tells us that we, the humans, cannot live together with the aliens. Dove, to us means peace, but to them means a chance to break their "lightbulb" and kill them. I've always wondered, if racial harmony is hard enough for just human and humans alone, why talk about aliens? It is sorta impossible, since aliens have their own races too, I guess.. Maybe a Singaporean Human can make friend with a Singaporean Alien? Both talking Singlish happily in the hawker centres.

I've also wondered how aliens come about.. Is it some perverts who thought of some tentacle demons who sticks their "long, slimy, rigid" tentacles into their victims "holes" etc. Or is it some egomaniac who boast to his kids about his adventures in another planet? The answers are infinite, but they logic are about the same. They use reference to a certain thing, but with something that humans does not posess. Like the tentacle demon, who apparently has their "long, slimy, rigid" stuff like a human's "pole", and human's don't have tentacles.. Or, instead of talking about another country, another planet might prove more "powerful" for an adventure. Sorry for the tentacle thingy, just that Chi Yong gave me and Randall the "Magic: The Gathering" Rulebook which contains 1 picture of it. It is horrifying when it is used on a man instead of a woman..

Since I disagree with talking about living together with aliens, but living together can still prove better in terms of TECHNOLOGY. You create yours, I create mine, we combine, everyone dies. Sorry, tried to rhyme it, but failed. Anyway, if an alien have their own creations, and we have our own, we can combine the two, and remove the flaws of each one, and make them into one brand new thing, or so. Isn't it great to have a handphone which is able to spawn some tentacle demon to fend off perverts or let the perverts to use them against other people?

In a game called "Dominant Species", by Red Storm Entertainment, we can play as the aliens instead of the humans. We build our own bases and fend off the humans. It is also pretty much tells us how it will be like as the life on an alien in that game. I wanted to play that game, but I just can't get it to be compatible with Vista..

Apart from creatures not from Planet Earth, even a human being who comes from another country can also be known as an alien. We don't know him/her, he/she don't know us, we learn about each other, then we become alliances, I mean friends. Also, not only the bad people are aliens (I don't mean that person who came from other country), I meant the people like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Ultraman, He-man, and all the ***-man who came to your mind. Heroes are also considered aliens because they are new to us, we can't fly, cannot shoot proteins (I mean webs), and use high tech items to deffeat our enemies. Yeah, the possibilities are also infinite..

I'm not sure why I'm talking so much about this topic, maybe it is what I have presented during my seminar presentation.

Sword and Sorcery

This topic reminds me of "Sci-Fi and Fantasy".. Anyone agree?

Anyway, it is just a combination of old, basic stuff working with new, high-tech stuff. I remembered something funny when I saw Dragonball. Yes, they have pole-wielding Goku and Bulma with the Dragonradar. Pretty huge difference there. Dragon ball is basically a conquest to find the dragonballs, which grants wishes. They also have Martial arts tournament to gather all the strongest fighters around. I wondered why they allowed 12-year-old Goku to enter the tournament the first time (fighting against huge and buffed dudes). Anyway, the dragonradar is a device to sense the dragonballs, which led Bulma to a journey to gather all 7 of them, Goku has one in his house, that is pretty much the reason why they met. I have always wondered, if the tournament allows the use of beams, why don't they allow guns? xD

Magic is like the strongest weapon since it can be unpredictable, requires high wisdom, etc. Nobody would carry a gun when there is magic that can reflect bullets back to the person who used them. A story about Sword and Sorcery usually have people from different race/class joining forces, with a common goal. I can list about 1 million games which does that. Okay, not so many, maybe a hundred? Yeah, but you know what I mean right? Even in games/cartoons, like Pokemon, you will need different types of Pokemon to defeat others. You can't always rely on your PIKACHU to defeat a Rock-type pokemon, it is just useless, unless your pikachu can emit a 10million Volt thunderbolt like what Enel (from One Piece) does. That reminds me, Enel uses his ULTIMATE skill Raikor, and still has no effect on Luffy, since he is made of RUBBER, Aha! One Piece also has regular things with high-tech stuff. That is why I have always wondered why people always use regular bullets instead of needle bullets against him. Not that I want him to die, but they are really THAT stupid.. They can make a cage using salt but not sharp, pointy, needle bullets?

Lastly, Mars Attack. Aliens have better technology than humans? I believe that, but they are really not that smart too.. They cannot breathe on Earth so they have to wear a "light bulb" on their heads. In the "light bulb", there are nitrogen, which acts like oxygen to us. Their weapons can turn even the strongest metal into nothingess, from humans to skeletons, but couldn't they make a better safety helmet? It really don't make sense.. Anyway, I'm also using Mars Attack as a reference for my next topic, Aliens and Alien Invasion, killing 2 birds with 1 stone, muahaha!

Tarot and Fortune Telling

When I was younger, I mean REALLY younger, I used to believe Fortune Telling (The Chinese Feng Shui) was real, because sometimes they work.. Those who believe will pay for a FengShui master, those who don't will think they he/she is a scam. Those who believe them, will blame the master for saying the wrong *good spot* for a vase. Either way, I feel kinda bad for them sometimes..

It is like Christianity. It you are Christian, forgive me for what I'm going to say next, it *might* offend you a little. Anyway, in my opinion, God doesn't exist. *He* is just a fatherly figure that the Christians imagined him to be. I also don't believe in Buddhism, the "Buddha" is just a statue. I don't believe in anything that doesn't exist. However, I do believe that it is the person who is created a God within himself/herself. He or she will use (not literally.. *depend on* is a better way to describe it) this "God" and pray for good life, etc. If the prayers come true, they would believe it is God granting their wish, if not, it might be that God wanted the people to wait a little longer before the wish can be granted. (By the way, I am not going off topic, the thing I'm going to say next will relate back.)

If people pray to the Tarot instead of God, they will realise the results are pretty much the same. Yes or wait. The reason why I cancel the "No" is because "waiting forever" is pretty much the same as "No". Tarot is just basically a deck of cards with some random pictures and a few words and THAT'S IT. The description of each card determines how your life would be like. My opinion to this is, if you have the good formula, you can list out all the outcomes in life, and place them in cards, like the hero archetypes. They all make sense, but not all of them applies to you.

It is also like how girls, seriously.. GIRLS, who love to do some horoscope reading for their LOVE life. I have a friend who is so INTO it, that she joined a forum about it.. Dot, dot, dot. They are basically the same compared to the Tarot, but with different effects every time. Hmm, my formula for this would be "FengShui + Tarot = Horoscope reading". In Japan, they even have the "Sushi reading".

Anime/Manga

Anime is an animation turned into a storyline. Manga is the Japanese word for comic.

We don't usually have any comments for them, as in, the word Anime or Manga. However, we have alot of ideas and stuff concerning the storyline. For example, Chi Yong said that without good graphics or some real-world logics, an anime will not be appealing. Well, I've seen One Piece, even with really bad graphics in certain episodes (I could even draw better), it is still one of the best animes, if not, it is the best one. The main character is a regular guy who ate a Rubber Fruit, and becomes a Rubberman. He is able to stretch, reflect blunt objects and act as a meat shield for a certain girl (You know who..) Anyway, in One Piece, there isn't any real-life logic, since when he stretch, his CLOTHES stretches too. There is also another guy who ate the Smoke Fruit, who is able to turn into smoke, when Luffy (the Rubberman) punches him, his fist went right through his body... and his CLOTHES! How can his clothes adapt the power of the Devil Fruits? Doesn't make sense, yet it is one of the best animes I have seen.

Back to topic, manga is just the non-moving, no-sound, no-filler of anime. Since the anime is based off the manga, they can add sound effects according to what they have seen from the manga, and animate them. Fillers are added in because of 2 reasons. 1, they have no more ideas to put in, so they decided to put in old stuff, again and again (happens much in One Piece). 2, they wanted the audience to know more about their background story, so they added in-depth stuff which *sometimes* the manga doesn't show.

I think Anime/Manga is really effective when it comes to the -aftereffects- of watching it. I have seen people doing "KA-ME-HA-ME-HA!" to the wall or throwing a tennis ball on the floor, shouting "Pikachu, I choose you!". Yup, the effects are there, psychologically. Kids who are watching them thought that they were real, even if they realised they isn't, sometimes they still continue watching them after they have grown up (like me, the no-life).

Updates of Symphonia

I don't really think I will be continuing on the series any time soon. Since there are school works, and other video stuff that I have to upload to YouTube. :(
Sorry to the 3 fans on this story. xD I even nearly gave up on this blog until Mun Ying asked us to do it. However, the story will continues on after a few weeks, I hope. So yeah.

Horror

This seminar tells us about 1 thing, fear. Horror movies are mainly slicing people up with chainsaws or putting screamers in many different scenes to scare the living hell out of people.

I don't really watch them because I think it is a waste of money to just sit there, get scared, walk off. However, a good horror genre is one of the hardest to make in terms of movies or games because Chi Yong said so. No, I meant, you will have to get the motion, sound effects and atmosphere right. It's like the perfect spot for a good scare would be a toilet. Usually they use things like, flickering lights, dripping water, reflections in the mirror, small and tight area, well, toilets are the perfect place if you ask me!

Another reason why a good horror genre is one of the hardest to make is because of replayability/re-watch-ability, yeah, created a new word. Like in Titanic, people could watch it just for the scene of -Jack hugs Rose, and she goes "I'm flying.."- They can watch it over and over again just for that scene.. However, in a horror movie, you get scared the first time, second time lesser, and then don't even feel like watching it again. It is pretty much similar to games, if you know what I mean.

Some random thoughts

In a Soul Calibur IV ending (Amy's), a guy named Raphael asked the Soul Calibur to grant him a wish. (Sounds like asking a genie.)
Anyway, this is what he said. "Ah, Soul Calibur, create a new World for Amy and me!"
Amy is currently his foster daughter, ever since she saved Raphael's life from something.. wait, going off topic.
So, read his speech.
Original: *Create a new World for Amy and me*
Some argues that it should be: *Create a new World for Amy and I*
So which is correct?
My opinion is that both of them are correct in their own logic. If he is referring to himself as the first person, and wanted Amy to be in HIS world, then it will be "Create a new World for (Amy and) me!" However, if it is the other, it will be "Create a new World for Amy (and I)!"
The purpose of this post is not for some random english lesson, but to tell others what we have said can mean totally different things. Think before you speak. :O

Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Since Science Fiction is fake, and fantasy is also fake, hence the formula would be.. Fantasy + Science = Science Fiction.
Science Fiction is pretty much similar to fantasy but in scientific way (sounds like scamming people using scientific methods). If people would review about Spiderman in the Scientific manner, it would sound like.. *He is using his "proteins" to stick it against the wall, using them to move around. He can shoot these "reproductive cells" from his wrists, which can also be used to blind enemies while giving him the chance to react. Definitely an M18 show.*
Anyway, that was just an example, nothing offensive. I'm a Spiderman fan too. Just that different people might treat them differently when it comes to Science Fiction. It is quite interesting how people can actually enjoy things that don't usually occur on Earth. People don't randomly drink potions on Earth, nor do they have to fight cute little slimes which are able to hop around like some little kids. (Dang, MapleStory..)
I've learnt that we have some expectation when it comes to genres. If it is a fantasy game, we will be thinking that the characters are able to fly, cast spells, shoot arrows which are far enough to reach the sun, etc. (LOL at the Hou Yi reference.) In Sci-Fi, our expectation will be like, "A mage doesn't have wings, how is he flying?", or "Before the arrow can reach the sun, it would melt long ago." Hence, scientific logics balance with the realm of fantasy, even if a game designer creates a fantasy world, there should be some science that goes along it to prevent it from getting too "non-realistic".

Hero Archetype

I have learnt that most of the characters (whether in movies, or games) are based the hero archetypes. By heroes, I don't really mean big, strong guys with 3 layers of muscles who walks around like a badass. Instead, they can be people who helped the main character, whether physical or psychological wise. From here, it shows that heroes doesn't have to be brute, they can be an intelligent and wise old man, who aids the main character all the way. Even a supportive character can be a hero, and the main character is not.
One of the hero archetypes that suits me is the explorer, well, in-game wise. In Studio-wise, I'm more towards the creator (since we are game designers..)
In the Studio groups, I'm in the group "Gorgonzola", currently working on a 3D game. At first, I thought "Gorgonzola" is the mixed breed of a "Gorgon" and a "Vuvuzela".. until Jae told us she also know that it meant "Blue Cheese".
Anyway, back to topic, why am I a creator (and explorer), is because of the assignments that are given to us. Zakie, the 2D artist, is handling me some of his art for 3D modelling. As I model some of the assets, I found out that some of his characters are not in proportion, and I'll have to fix them myself. :(
Along the way, I seek helped from "Gooooooooooooogle", the old and wise, and got some of the stuff modelled on time. (Yeah, last minute work gives us the motivation." Exploring for new things (in Google), and creating things that aren't really supposed to be (in a good way) describes my character in the hero archetype. A pretty useless character huh?

Hero's Journey

-Top Left-
Hero's Storyline:
I'm just a regular wizard trying to mix in the group of other wizards. (I'm the gray one at the back, not the blue one.) We are learning from a Mage who is apparently good at ice-based attacks. During the journey, I found out certain skills are not to my liking, and I started to learn from other Magi with other elemental skills.

Student's Storyline:
Replace "Wizard" with "Student".
Replace "Mage" with "Teacher".
Replace "Skill" with "Subject".
During Secondary 1, trying to mix in with some random Sec 1 students from different Primary Schools. Ice skill is actually Chinese, I'm good at Chinese, but not really interested in studying more into it.

-Top Right-
Hero's Storyline:
Then I found out I'm actually good at fire-based attacks, so I started to master the skills from another Mage. Along the way, I've found a party member, who is apparently into fire-type skills. (Note that the colour indicates the amount of skills that a wizard has learnt. Red = Master of the fire arts, Pink = Still-learning, White = Getting started). With this party member, I am able to continue on my journey without fear of using the skill the wrong way, etc.

Student's Storyline:
Near June of Secondary 1, I'm really interested in Mathematics, and started getting Expert within a few weeks (after getting some award for a Mathematics competition). However, my ego grew too much and I started to boast about it. Found some friends who also loved the subject much, but only 1 who is really into it, like me.

-Bottom Left-
Hero's Storyline:
Of course, life wouldn't be so easy for a hero. There will be obstacles along the way. Monsters appears randomly around the environment, so I, aka the Hero, will have to save the day. With my Fire-based skills, I'm able to fend off any creatures who are weak against Fire, but not Water-based creature. So there you go, I've found another party member, who is good with lightning spells. Die, you water freak! We gained experience by defeating monsters, and exchanged our knowledge of spells. Then face off with the Bosses.

Student's Storyline:
The bosses represent the tests and exams. To overcome them, we will have to study for knowledge (or defeat the regular creatures to get experience). With enough knowledge, we are able to overcome the exams, even though some of them failed along the way, I failed sometimes.. Boo-hoo.

-Bottom Right-
Hero's Storyline:
Finally, the moment is here. I will be facing the final bosses alone! The party members died along the way.. No, I meant they have something to do.. So I, after learning much knowledge from every Wizard/Mage I've encountered with (multi-coloured me), will defeat them single-handedly. In the end, I'm victorious, and is the Hero of the day! Woo! Then.. After I've returned to my village, I realised all my party members are also heroes of the day. It just continues on, back to the top left picture.

Student's Storyline:
O-Levels. The Size of the monsters represent the difficulty of the topics. It is actually easier than expected, but there are many different subjects to study. (Actually there are more than 7, but I'm running out of colours..) Yeah, after completing the O-Levels, I will be in the polytechnic, alone, again, repeating the history. Going back to the first image, it means that I'll have to mix in with the crowd again, as a new apprentice to the Guild, learning things all over again, and again, and again..

Idea of an Idea

This sound pretty tricky. What is an "idea of an idea"?

Let's break the words up into smaller parts. So, let's examine, what is an idea?
Basically it is whatever that came up in someone's mind when he/she/it thinks. Ideas can be ANYTHING. You hear me? Anything! It can be a blog, a video, a game, an action, food, vomit, etc.

Now let's go back to the topic. "Idea of an idea", what is it?
So, it is "whatever that came up in someone's mind" of an "whatever that came up in someone's mind"?
Well, to put it simply, an example can be "eating food". The first idea is "thinking about food", the idea within it could be "the desire of EATING the food". Both ideas are linked together, making it an idea of an idea. A good or bad idea here can mean something like "good food or bad food", or something like that.

An idea of an idea makes the person think more, maybe even out of the box. If aliens saw this food on Planet Earth, they can assume that this is a tool for communication, why not? It is an idea.

In overall, this is what my opinion of "an idea of an idea".

Introduction of Myself?

Hi! Well, you should probably already know me even before you even ENTER this blog, so yeah. So, erm.. here is a basic introduction of myself:

I'm a gamer since young, introduce me to any game, and I'll try it. I have a strong passion towards games that "earns EXP, gold, classes, achievements...", so yeah, anything to do with progression. I'm also into anime, listening to music, walking around aimlessly with some friends, and sometimes calisthenics. (Yeah, pretty boring right?)

Aside from the everyday life, currently I'm a student studying game design. Loves 3D modelling, hates UV mapping. Loves drawing, hates proportion. Loves programming, hates debugging. Get what I mean? Basically I love this course, but hate the assignments.

Aim/Target/What I want to achieve?
Well, I wanted to make a game that is from everywhere. That means from here, there, and compile all of the game ideas and merge into one.. Then, yeah.. Let the people enjoy this game? (Pretty messy, isn't it?)

So that's about it!

Symphonia Chapter 3: Strongest Akama, No. 01!

Note: Number means "birth" of the Akamas. 01 as the eldest, 100 as the youngest. It is not used to rank stronger or weaker Akamas.

Last time, Lyn went to sleep after explaining about No. 07, Marc chose to keep awake and glance out of the window. Is he suspecting her, or he has something in his mind? Let's find out.

Marc stared out of the window, and glanced through the surroundings, wondering if all these might be just a dream. After a few minutes of deep thoughts, Marc finally decided to have a good rest.

The next morning, Marc was woken with breakfast ready on the table. Lyn came out of the kitchen and smiled at Marc, who was just awake. Lyn: "The landlord had just left for work, so you could finish all of these up." Marc grabbed a seat and started eating. Marc: "Today I will be going off for job interviews, hoping to get some luck." Lyn: "Good luck!" After the breakfast, the two went off together.

On the way to the city, the two masked men appeared again. Masked man: "Number 08, Zaki Williams." Another masked man: "Number 09, Joe Carpenter." Then they went straight for Lyn. Lyn open her palms, a current of water energy flows through her fists, and shouted, "Water Cannon!" The two men dodged the water cannons and used energy attacks at her. Joe: "Electric shock!" A flash of electricity went straight on to Lyn, and Marc pushed her off and used a fire bolt at Joe. Then both masked men stopped their attacks.

Zaki: "So, you are an Akama too? Guess the chase was for nothing." Joe: "Not exactly, at least we found out the latest Akama.. No wait! There is another one nearby!" Both Joe and Zaki rushed off to the direction the signal gave from his Akama radar.

At the destination of the signal, there was a young man, walking across the street. Without waiting for his introduction, the duo attacked the young man. Lyn, being her adventurous self today, dragged Marc along to see the battle. The young man looked up at the duo who were dashing toward him, starts to raise his hands and chants. What Lyn and Marc saw gave them a huge shock. The duo, Zaki and Joe, were immobilized! They appeared floating on air without moving a muscle, and the man said a few words to the duo. Man: "I am Number... 01, Lloyd Florence." With that, Lloyd left.

Lyn was stumbled and told Marc that Lloyd is the strongest Akama, but no one has ever seen his face. His power is "Chrono", the ability to manipulate time for any Akama. Marc just stood there, looking at the duo who were stuck on air, landed after a few seconds.

Joe and Zaki: "Where did he go? He was there a moment ago!" Marc: "He left." Joe and Zaki then left the place hurriedly for another signal on the radar. Lyn: "They are Amulet Hunters from the government, they have been hunting down humans that has obtained the amulets. When an unequipped amulet is nearby, the radar will give a signal, and they will hurry toward it. If it happens that the Amulet is equipped during the chase, they will let it go. Since they known that the amulet is not what they wanted." Marc: "So the amulet they were hunting for is the one that unlocks the seal of Setora?" Lyn: "Yes! It is the only item that can unlock the Seal, since it has no combat powers in it." Marc: "Oh no! We're late for the interview!" He dragged Lyn and ran toward the direction of the interview.

Symphonia Chapter 2: Birth Of A New Akama

Note: Akama is a term to describe humans that have supernatural powers given by the Symphonia amulets.

Last time, Marc and Lyn were talking about the amulets and Lyn's background, and Lyn asked Marc to put on the amulet. Is it a trick? Or is it just curiousity? Let's find out.

Marc screamed in agony, rolling on the floor while holding on to his head. Lyn tried to help him up but to no avail. After a few seconds of agony, Marc started to stagger and climbed back to the bench.

Lyn: "Are you all right?" Marc: "Yeah, I'm fine now." Lyn: "Open you palm and concentrate on hitting that tree." Marc then move to the tree where Lyn pointed and hit it with half of his strength -afraid of injuring his knuckles-, and to his surprise, the tree was set aflame! Lyn quickly distinguishes the fire with her water attacks. Lyn smiled at Marc and said, "So you are also an Akama now, let's work together, Number 10. Marc Steven!" "Yeah, okay.." Marc replied with confusion.

Lyn: "There are 100 amulets scattered all around the world, but only less than 10 Akamas, including you. Either the amulets have not found their masters yet, or those with the powers did not realise it. Before more Akamas appears."

Marc: "Okay, but I have to go now. Let's meet up again soon and see what I can help you with." Lyn: "Wait! Erm, I have no place to stay, do you mind if I stay in your house?" Marc: "Okay."

Back in Marc's rented room, Lyn and Marc were watching the news, and something caught their attention. News reporter: "Earlier this morning, the artifacts in the museum were all frozen, not even one was untouched." The TV shows the images of the statues and paintings frozen, as if the museum was crafted by ice."

Lyn: "It must be another Akama's doing. Number 07, Dom James." Marc: "Dom James?" Lyn: "Yes, he is the ice Akama that has achieve 6 skills. Akamas can learn up to 10 skills, depending on their types. Elmen and Wapon. Elmen is a special type of Akama that uses skills such as fire, water, ice, etc. Wapon, on the other hand, uses swords, axes, spears, and so on. Wapon Akamas are hard to be recognized, as normal humans can also use these. To identify an Akama, check whether they have equipped the amulet." Marc: "I see."

Lyn: "Akamas have 3 different purposes for their existance, 1 is for the government, obtaining the Setora to control the world. 2 is anti-government, which is like us trying to stop them from doing so. Lastly, neutrals, there are Akamas that does not want to get involved in the Setora War." Then she switched off the lights, and went to bed. Marc did not sleep, just stood by the window stared at the night sky.

Symphonia Chapter 1: The Forgotten Legend

It is like any normal day for Marc Steven, a 18 year old student, who is currently a high school dropout and is looking for a job. Today, like any normal day, he is still trying to go for job interviews, hoping to get a job to pay for his rent. He currently moves out from his home and lives in someone else's house as a tenant as it is nearer to his school. While he is walking in the streets toward the venue for the job interview, something happened.

Marc saw a girl who was running towards him, and behind her were two masked men chasing her. He thought that the 2 men were trying to rob the girl, so he rushed toward the girl and dragged her along with him to hide. During the chase, the girl passed Marc a jeweled amulet and told him that she would be coming back to him and retrieve the amulet. Then she ran off. The men seemed like they haven't notice the amulet was passed to Marc and continued chasing the girl, until Marc lost the sight of them.

Marc stared at the amulet, and found out that its glow gave a weird aura whenever he glanced into it. He felt empty inside, as if his emotions were taken. Shaking his head, Marc hurriedly ran toward to the job interview venue. As the sky darkens, he was rejected by by 30 companies. Disappointed, Marc sat at a bench in the park and kept staring the sky and sigh. All of a sudden, a shadow flew over the lake. As Marc stared at the night sky, a girl appears before his eyes. It was the same girl who passed him the amulet earlier today. She sat beside Marc and apologizes for what happened earlier. Then she revealed the story of the amulet, which Marc was holding on to.

Girl: "The Amulet was stolen from the hidden 8th continent, Symphonia. There were 100 types of these Amulets scattered around the world. One of them was the key to unseal the weapon, Setora. Setora's power was so great that 1 blast would create earthquakes, tornadoes and even volcanic eruptions. However, the only person who knew this secret was Lyn, a girl from the Isle of Symphonia." "Why the girl wanted to steal this amulet?" Marc asked.

Girl: "The girl found out about its secret because of a poneglyph, which was crafted in a hidden temple in Symphonia. Before anyone who could decipher the language from this poneglyph, she would rather have the amulet destroyed to save the world from anyone, and that girl, is me."

Marc: "Then why would you gave it to a stranger like me?" Lyn: "Because... the amulet reacted when I passed it to you earlier today." Marc: "Reacted?" Lyn: "It glows when its master held on to it. Try putting it on." Then Marc proceed on to what Lyn said. After he put on the amulet, Marc screamed in agony...
